Strategy

Normal

Positioning Ozruk is critical during this fight. The tank should place themselves against the hallway walls where Ozruk is standing before the fight. This way any knockbacks will limit the movement of the boss making healing and DPS easier. In addition, he should always be faced away from the rest of the group so that Ground Slam doesnt hit the group causing excess healing strain. Range players should keep at least 30 yards distance from the boss making sure to be behind him at all times.

The tank can avoid Ground Slam entirely by moving through the boss behind him until the cast is completed and then spinning the boss back around to face the wall. While the tank taking damage from this on normal is possible if they have enough health, it is an excess strain on the healer and should try to be avoided.

Ozruk will cast 2 spells usually 1 after another which decrease the damage being done to him. Elementium Bulwark will reflect 20% of the spell casts done to him back on the caster so healers and DPS should be aware of this. Elementium Spike Shield will cause any melee damage done to him to stack a bleed on the person who hits him which can stack up to 20 times. While he still takes damage from the melee attack, this can quickly get out of control if melee DPS and even the tank don't back off on DPS until this ability fades.

Every so often Ozruk will cast Shatter which will hit anyone within 15 yards of him. This is a 2.5 second cast so it is possible for melee to run away to avoid it and should be avoided as much as possible to keep the healing focused on the tank. It is also possible for the tank to avoid this damage on normal, but it will require a lot of movement of the boss which can make the fight difficult since Ground Slam usually follows shortly after. If the boss is chasing the tank when he decides to cast this, it could hit other people in the group and become a big problem so its best for the tank to just take the damage from Shatter.

When Ozruk hits 25% health, he will gain Enrage. The group and tank should save all cooldowns for this time and kill Ozruk as quickly as possible to avoid a wipe as his damage will become too much to heal through if left alive too long.

Other options to this phase are to kite Ozruk down the hall keeping him faced away from the rest of the group, though this can be difficult to pull off without any unkilled NPCs and also making sure his AOE abilities dont hit the rest of the group.

Heroic

Heroic strategy doesnt differ too much from Normal. His tanking position as well as the position of the rest of the group remains the same.

The largest difference aside from the increased damage Ozruk's abilities do on Heroic is that he now casts Paralyze which is always followed by Shatter. Since this ability hits for so much more damage, it is important that it is removed or dispelled from everyone in melee range of the boss as quickly as possible so they can run to avoid Shatter.

The best way to remove Paralyze is to do damage on the boss that will reflect back on you during either his Elementium Bulwark or Elementium Spike Shield. Since Paralyze is removed when you take damage, anything you have reflected on you as a caster like a DoT or the bleed he places on melee, will break it almost as soon as it is placed on you. The healer should also try and get some sort of reflected DoT or bleed on them as well to minimize damage done to them as well as be available to dispell should anyone else need it.

Because of the enormous amount of damage Shatter now does, the tank also needs to move to avoid being hit by it as well. It only affects anyone within 15 yrds of the boss when he casts it, so running directly through the boss and away should get enough distance to avoid it.

Additionally, the tank now needs to avoid Ground Slam completely on Heroic or they will be 1-shot if hit. Again, the easiest method is to simply run through the boss as soon as he starts to cast this ability placing yourself behind him and then repositioning him as needed once hes finished his cast.

For the Enrage phase, it is almost impossible to tank him without any damage reduction cooldowns and it is highly suggested he is kited to avoid as much damage on the tank, taking care to not be in front of him when he casts Ground Slam.
