Notes
- Reanimated Fanatics (aka Melee Immune) & Reanimated Adherents (aka Magic Immune)
- Try not to rely on their visual appearance in deciding which type these are. While Fanatics have a tendency to be reanimated as tentacled horrors and Adherents have a tendency to get reanimated as skeletons, either one can be a skeleton. If you go by their names, you will never be wrong about what type they are.
- Reanimated Fanatics = kill them by spell
- Reanimated Adherents = kill them by sword
- It is recommended that you have someone in the raid responsible for marking them and getting the word out so everyone knows how it needs to be burned down. One of the keys to this fight is being able to consistently identify and get everyone to burn down their appropriate type fairly quickly. Too much delay and you risk being overwhelmed with adds that have reflective shield up.
Weekly Raid Quest Notes
If the random weekly raid quest Deprogramming is available, the quest giver will be standing just outside of Lady Deathwhisper's chamber, on the left side of the doorway. He is easily approachable as you come up the ramp from the Lower Spire after defeating Lord Marrowgar. As you engage Lady Deathwhisper, Darnavan will spawn as one of the melee adds during the first or second wave. On the 10-man version he has about 155K hps. While it may be possible to OT him for the entire combat, if you have a Moonkin druid present in the raid, this quest becomes easier to complete and still more so if Root is properly macro-ed.
Moonkin druids are the only kind of druid that can retain their form when casting Root. Healer and Feral druids would lose a lot of time and mana having to switch forms, and tanks would probably die trying to do so. Having a Root macro that uses the focus target so that you can make sure your primary dps job gets done with very little impact will make your life, and Darnavan's, that much easier to save since you end up occasionally pressing the Root key every 25 sec or so without even having to turn and face him.
Root Macro
/clearfocus [modifier:alt][@focus,dead][@focus,help][@focus,noexists]
/focus [@focus,noexists]
/cast [@focus]Entangling Roots
The reason the Rank 1 version of the spell is not used is because it only lasts about 6 seconds while the max rank version easily lasts nearly 30 seconds. The damage is greater, but by the end of the fight he still had over half hps (on 10man).
Be aware that the OT will still need to pick up Darnavan like a normal add and slap him around a bit. Once it's safe to do so, move Darnavan out of the way and let your Moonkin know he's ready to be rooted down. The reason for this is that he is initially immune to all forms of CC and after a bit of damage becomes susceptible to root. Parking Darnavan out of the way will allow him to survive longer by avoiding splash damage from various AoE abilities the raid members may employ. Also be aware that Darnavan has Whirlwind and if he uses it, he will be temporarily immune to Root.
