Character Screen
The new Character View Screen is larger and more informative about your characters statistics. You can now see all of your stats in collapsible lists on the right side of your character instead of having to use a drop-down to swap between views like the old screen. The "Skills" page of the screen is also removed as that information has been moved to a separate screen.
Leveling Up
The process of gaining levels has changed some with Cataclysm where now you see clearly displayed on your screen when you reach a new level instead of the old method of just showing you in your chat box.
In addition to each new level gained, if you are able to learn a new ability from your class trainer, those new abilities are also displayed so you can see clearly if it is worth stopping off at a trainer before continuing your grinding.
Spellbook
The Spellbook has been revamped both in function and looks. It now will display a list of all your players abilities regardless of your level and at which level you will learn them.
In addition, when you reach a new level, it will show you which spells are available and require you to visit a trainer by highlighting them.
Professions
Professions and other secondary skills have moved to their own screen away from the Character Screen. They are now clearly displayed so you can easily see the level and all of them you know including any specializations in each.
Tradeskills
The Tradeskill window has been altered a bit to make it more smooth to get things done. The search bar is now more centered, filtering is more sensible, and for new folks the ability to send the chat link of your profession is easier to find with its own button instead of a small obscure picture of a link at the top of the window frame.
You can now filter your list of craftables based on if it will provide a skill point in addition to being able to filter more finely with sub-classes.
Trainer Windows
When it's time to visit a trainer, the window now is a lot cleaner and more informative than the old. You can now see the ability, the level required, its cost and an icon for it displayed. Skills and Items you can't learn yet are grayed out in the list. You can also filter the list if you so choose.
One of the nice things is that visiting a trainer is less frequent as all spells and abilities now have 1 rank so there is no more need to train up a new rank every other level.
Minimap
The Minimap has received some small improvements as well. Now you can track multiple things at once instead of having to choose from 1 tracking at a time. This is a definite bonus for when you are looking for both a repair vendor and reagents for example.
Atop that, the Minimap now has a QuestHelper like arrow to direct you to the location of the next quest objective if you are using quest tracking.
Quest Window
The new quest window has received a small addition to make it a little easier to find who or what you are looking for. We've all had those quests where we are sent on a mission to find a certain NPC or Mob and we spend 15 minutes searching the area for it only to find they have been right in front of us the whole time. Now the quest window will show you an image of who or what you are looking for to make it easier to find.
Also, there is now a remote questing feature where you can complete some quests without having to return all the way to the original quest giver.
Power Auras
Blizzard is planning to implement a built-in version of the add-on Power Auras Classic into the Cataclysm UI. Players will be able to turn on the option of being notified visually of different ability triggers like Sword and Board, etc, making it easier to see when its time to use those special talent bonuses.
Realistic Water Effects
Cataclysm will introduce a new set of graphic changes to make for more realistic water in the game.
In addition to realistic water bodies, the effect of water elsewhere in the game has been improved as well. In zones that receive rain, you will be able to see water pool in sections of streets in a realistic manner.
